Frankly, Feng Shui is used to:

1. neutralise any bad effects (from the land)
2. enhance beneficial Qi.

Basically, it is used to assess "the earth".

Therefore, when it concerns Feng Shui, it does not have a special signifiance to it.

Thus Shapes and Form Feng Shui, is about assessment of the land i.e. landscape or city, site / building and unit.

Compass School Feng Shui especially Flying Star Feng Shui - uses cures if there is an imbalance at a particular sector.

Since most of the bad elements are of wood element i.e. #3 #4 and bad metal elements #5 and #2; usually the most common cures is the use of METAL cures.

For Sha Qi i.e. under Shapes and Form Feng Shui, for example if there is a lone lamp post facing a window, a FS practitioner may advise the placement of a fish tank.

Here, the components of the Fish Tank are:
Gold fish = metal element; water = water element these are used to neutralise the lone lamp post. Based on the Five Elements concept.

For crystals, this belong more to the `commercialised "Feng Shui" sites. Sites that claim the special significance of crystals.

Usually, the characteristics of such " Feng Shui sites " posts lots of material goods or wares for sale.

More importantly, the sale of crystals should not be in my opinion, associated with a `special' significance with Feng Shui or ride on it.

But in terms of appreciation of crystals, this I believe is a totally different issue.

I would like to honestly (based on my opinion) that based on what I mentioned above, Feng Shui or its established practise is `geared' for the analysis of `the earth' i.e. the landscape, site etc...

In the past, it applied at a macro level, such as finding good sites for a city or locations of rest (tombs); and palaces.

Most of the FS masters, half-geologist etc... and they really examine the soil and examine water positions to find suitable and stable sites.

Thus, its purpose is simply to look at the land and how, man who encroach on it, can live in harmony with it.

FS therefore does not have a set of rules for harvesting gems or precious stones. This would be best left to the engineers and geologists and specialised equipments/expertise to handle.

I hope, I did not disappoint you on the above.

Warmest Regards,
Cecil
