Hi,

Under the shapes and form school, the main concern is to "protect" your main entrance door and especially and windows along this frontage.

Therefore, for the main door, one test is to stand at the main entrance door and look out. If the cross is on the same level or directly cutting the main entrance door, this is considered a sha qi or poison.

Normally, the cross should be higher level, and it would usually affect your house if it is more then one storey high. And for such cases, the most easiest cases is to use a set of blinds or thicker curtains.

This is based on the principle that if you cannot see the sha it is no longer a threat.

Usually, the most common threat is a lamp post. Here as the lamp post is considered by many Hong Kong Feng Shui practitioners consider this as a fire element threat. This is why many Hong Kong Feng Shui practitioners ask their clients to place a Fish Tank in the room that overlooks this threat. As you are aware, water in general destroys Fire. So this indirectly counteract the sha qi.

Actually, there is another third element in the water which is the fish to counteract, the wood element as the lamp post is complex. The Lamp post is tall and thin, and some Feng Shui Masters instead consider it as a wood element.

What can we learn from above?

You will notice that some Feng Shui professionals use fish tank sparingly and not simply place a fish tank for the sake of earning extra money.

Another point you need to know here is that, usually under feng shui, fish tanks are used mostly by traditional feng shui practitioners as cures rather than enhancers. Contrast this with a fountain and a waterfall as they are fast moving and are considered more as enhancers.

There are Feng Shui practitioners who question the use of placing a fish tank for two reasons.

1. What happens if the fishes die?
2. By pouring away water from the fish tank when cleaning the fish tank, it is symbolic of pouring away wealth (water).

However, generally water is considered as wealth, but under different circumstances, water is not necessary a person's wealth.

For example, a Earth element person's wealth is water, but this is not true for others.

Also, in I-Ching Water symbolises difficulties. Therefore, if it is at the wrong location of the house, again just like wind chime, it would do more harm then good.

You should also be aware that too much water is considered too yin, and too much yin is the house is inauspicious as yin normally represents weak and sickness.

For example, houses with blue roofs is never recommended, because it is like water on top of you, which means you face lots of problems.

Hopes this helps.

Warmest Regards
Robert Lee
