Dear Susan,

Each house has to be looked at on a case-by-case basis. It depends on the distance of the house e.g. back of the house to the drop off point. And the gradient of this drop off point or slope.

Overall, a large land has some advantages. Especially if the back is `spacious' or better off situation. In such a senario, if the proper `fencing' or ability to create a solid backing can be done, this can be acceptable.

Therefore, no two houses are the same. It is best in most situations to create a `solid backing' at the back of the house and if possible avoid water positions.

Warmest Regards,
Cecil
